World Athletics Relays Headed to Gaborone with Debswana as Title Sponsor

Debswana Diamond Company has been announced as the official title sponsor of the World Athletics Relays Gaborone 2026, a marquee event that brings together the world's fastest relay teams in Botswana's capital.

The sponsorship underscores Botswana's growing status as a track and field nation — the country has produced world-class sprinters and middle-distance runners in recent years, including Olympic and World Championship medallists.

"Athletics is part of Botswana's identity," said a Debswana spokesperson. "Supporting this event is an investment in our country's pride and our young athletes' dreams."

The World Athletics Relays will feature 4x100m, 4x400m, and mixed relay events, with teams qualifying for the World Athletics Championships. The event is expected to draw athletes from over 40 countries.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Africa Senior Athletics Championships will be held in Accra, Ghana from May 12-17, providing another major platform for African athletes ahead of the global season.
